Dec
Dear Diary,
Earlier this morning after attending the Sunday mass, together w/ my mom and bro, we headed to the nearest mall in the city and we were welcomed with a swarm of rushing Christmas shoppers. It was stressful to see pips from every corner ,I ended up getting lazy on looking around and so I insisted to go home instead. (Thank God I did an early shopping)
See the best thing about the Philippines is that we had the longest xmas celebration, pinoys will start decorating offices, houses and even streets as early as September, yes you heard it right, as early as the first day of the ‘Ber” month, you can already hear Christmas carols over the radio, local TV shows will start counting down and the spirit around the country will switch to a very warm atmosphere. And this tradition is something that I look forward to every year. Christmas is my favorite time of the year next to my birthday though
But this year was a bit odd for me, like failed attempts of jotting down my wishlist. Odd because I’m a Santa Clause fan so creating a wish list has been my childish hobby ever since. So why a sudden twist? Reality check.
—That there are less fortunate people who needs help, the cost of one grande frappĂ© can feed a family of four already.
—That I need to clear up my closet and shoe rack before stacking new ones, remember those kids at the fruit stand who were using their shirts as blankets while sleeping?
—That my cravings are nothing compare to a beggar who’s starving for days already.
And the list goes on and on. I love receiving material gifts but right now all I’m wishing for is that people will share something to feed someones heart, enlighten someones spirit and help those who are loosing hope. Now Im sounding like a beauty pageant ambassador again, lol. But seriously, this is what I’m wishing for right now.
This season is more than just a season of giving gifts. It’s more of making people realize that some of us has to stay strong and stand up when everyone else is falling down and giving up, so you can extend your arms, pull up a hand and make that person feel that happiness cant be found on a bank account of a millionaire or a big box of a wrapped gift . There’s more to life to celebrate about.
I wish everyone will be able to see that.
LIVE.LAUGH.LOVE
xoxo,
